SAFEGUARDING AND CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
For Online Coding Classes with Children (Ages 6–19)

1. Purpose of this Policy

This safeguarding policy outlines our commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of all children participating in our online coding classes. The purpose is to:

Prevent online grooming, abuse, or exploitation.

Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

Assure parents and schools that all sessions are conducted with care and transparency.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all staff, instructors, volunteers, and contractors involved in delivering online classes to children under our program.

3. Key Principles

The safety and well-being of children is our top priority.

Children have the right to be protected from all forms of abuse and exploitation.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

4. Code of Conduct for Instructors

All instructors must:

Pass a background check (criminal and reference verification)

Complete safeguarding and child protection training

Dress appropriately and behave professionally at all times

Never contact children outside the class platform or approved communication channels

Never be alone in one-on-one video calls with a child unless parent/guardian is present or has given written consent

Avoid all forms of inappropriate behavior, language, or jokes

5. Online Class Protocols

All classes are recorded for transparency and safety

Parents are encouraged to monitor or be present during sessions

Zoom/meeting links are only shared with registered parents

Screen sharing is controlled and monitored

Instructors and students must use display names only (no nicknames or inappropriate usernames)

One-on-one tutoring requires prior parental approval

6. Communication Policy

All communication with children must go through official channels (email, class platforms, or group chats with parental oversight)

No private messaging or social media contact is permitted

Parents receive regular updates on student participation and progress

7. Reporting Concerns

All concerns, suspicions, or disclosures of abuse must be reported immediately to the designated Safeguarding Officer

Reports can be made anonymously by parents or students

A clear investigation process will be followed, and external authorities will be contacted if necessary

8. Parental Involvement & Consent

Parents/guardians must provide written consent for student participation

Parents will be informed of class times, topics, and instructor names

Parents may request recordings or sit in during classes

9. Policy Review and Updates

This policy will be reviewed every 6 months or as required by changes in law or operational procedures.
